Low Pressure Die Casting
Fundo has Low Pressure Die Casting machines with table widths up to 2200 mm. We currently have eight Low Pressure Die Casting machines, half of which are arranged into production lines for the production of both lower and higher volumes.
The two main advantages of Low Pressure Die Casting are the metal filling with the lowest turbulence and that larger metal quantities can be easily handled. In Low Pressure Die Casting, the permanent mould is filled from below with controlled pressure and thus a controlled metal filling with the lowest turbulence is obtained, which is important for the soundness of the casting and its fatigue properties. Low-pressure casting also often provides excellent conditions for a directed solidification, which reduces the risk of porosity and also gives a better casting yield compared to conventional methods. Due to the rapid solidification, Low Pressure Die Casting cast parts acquire a fine-grained structure with good strength properties that can be further improved by heat treatment.
