Tilt casting
In Fundo's facility in Charlottenberg there are Tilt casting machines in different sizes, from table width 600 to 1600 mm. We have about twenty Tilt casting machines arranged into production lines, which enables efficient production of both medium and higher volumes.
In tilt casting, the die is tilted backwards at a controlled speed and thus a controlled metal filling with low turbulence is obtained. The low turbulence is important for the soundness of the casting and its fatigue properties. Tilt casting also provides good conditions for directed solidification, which reduces the risk of porosity and also gives a better casting yield compared to conventional methods. Due to the rapid solidification, Tilt cast parts acquire a fine-grained structure with good strength properties that can be further improved by heat treatment.
